Reading Lists

Texas 2x2

The Texas 2x2 list is a wonderful resource for children aged 2 through 2nd grade. Books are chosen by librarians across the state and compiled into a list of 20. Kindergarten, first and second grade students are encouraged to read all 20 -- either with their class or independently. A coloring boot is provided to help students keep track of the books they've read. Many of the titles are available on Sora, so check them out today!

Texas Bluebonnet List

The Texas Bluebonnet Award (TBA) reading program is based on a list created by Texas librarians, in conjunction with the Texas Library Association.Twenty books are chosen for the list, which is curated for 3rd through 6th graders. Students at Wieland who read and track at least five of those books are eligible to attend the Bluebonnet Voting Party in January! The votes are counted and sent to TBA headquarters, and the winner is announced in February.

Students can track books they've read independently, with their class or a parent, or even listened to via audiobook. Students track their books using this form

Bluebonnet readers receive a prize at the voting party and a certificate at the end of year awards ceremony.
